About this Photo Walk

Join us for our next PhotoClub247 meetup as we head to the vibrant streets of Manchester! We are thrilled to have local street photographer Michael Freeman hosting this walk. Michael knows Manchester inside out and is excited to show you the city’s hidden gems.

While Michael’s passion is for street photography, this walk is perfect for everyone. We’ll explore famous landmarks, but we’ll also wander off the beaten track to find unusual sites and lesser-known spots that most people walk right past. Whether you love capturing grand architecture, colourful graffiti, or the busy atmosphere of the city, there will be plenty for your lens to dive into.

What to Expect

A Bit of Everything: From historic buildings to the gritty, artistic vibe of Manchester’s street art.
Learn the Ropes: If you’re new to street photography, Michael is happy to share his favourite techniques, talk about the “rules of the road,” and suggest the best settings for your camera.
Friendly & Social: Just like all our walks, the main goal is to meet your online friends and enjoy a day out with people who love photography as much as you do!

We’ll finish the session by finding a local spot to grab a drink, rest our feet, and share our favourite images from the day.

Absolutely! This walk is suitable for photographers of all skill levels, from absolute beginners to seasoned pros. It is designed to be a collaborative and supportive environment. While we won’t provide formal instruction, our event hosts are happy to offer quick tips and help you with basic settings if you need assistance.

We recommend bringing a camera that you are comfortable operating, whether it’s a DSLR, mirrorless, or even a modern smartphone. A versatile lens (like a 24-70mm equivalent) is usually best. Please also bring extra charged batteries and plenty of memory card space!

This walk is rated as Easy to Moderate. We will cover approximately 5 km over the course of 5 hours. There are only minor elevation changes (except at Rylands Library which has some steep steps). We will maintain a relaxed pace with frequent stops for taking photos. Please wear comfortable shoes.

The photo walk is designed to proceed rain or shine! If light rain is forecast, we encourage you to bring appropriate gear protection and an umbrella.

If a Met Office Weather Warning is issued for the date/time of the Photo Walk, we will notify you via email as soon as possible and issue you with a coupon for a future event.

The registration fee confirms your place for the event and covers the planning and organisation for the day. Tea/Coffee at the end of the event is also included in the fee.

NOT included in the fee is any travel expenses to and from the meeting place or any admission fees for local attractions.

If you need to cancel your place, you can receive a coupon for a future event or a full refund if you notify us via email at least 7 days before the event.

Cancellations made within 7 days of the event are non-refundable.
