Meet the Instructor – Jonathan Vaines

We are delighted to welcome Jonathan Vaines to the Photoclub247 team as our resident Photoshop & Printing expert.

He is an internationally recognised photographic judge and teacher, known for his innovative creative approach and post-processing expertise.

Jonathan regularly teaches Photoshop online, both in groups and one to one sessions. He is also an Educator for the Royal Photographic Society and runs processing workshops for them.

Based in Bedfordshire, UK, he empowers photographers around the world.

I booked a place on this class thinking that I could use Photoshop fairly well. Week 1 changed my belief!
Moving on I learnt ways to make a selection in Photoshop and easier than the methods I knew. Then we were shown how to use Levels Adjustment Layers and how much could be done with them, tips and tricks that were hidden in plain sight. In the last week we explored Curves, what a tool!
Throughout the entirety of the classes Jonathan displayed a professional but extremely friendly manner, no question went unanswered this was by far the best photo editing course I have ever taken and was great value for money.
If you are even thinking about a photo editing course I would recommend you stop thinking and get this course booked.

Wow!!!
We are at the end of our final week of Photoshop training with Jonathan Vaines, not sure where the time has gone.
I have attended a few PS classes and I can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed learning each week.
Jonathan explains every detail which is so easily understandable.
Personally, I don’t find it easy sitting or making the time to practice what I have just learnt but I have been so inspired that I try every day to go over the session and work on the images Jonathan has provided.

I have previously tried to get to grips with Photoshop through online courses, webinars or reading reading articles. After a few days I might do some successful editing, then hit a problem, which I am not sure how to resolve. By the time I go back to have a look a few days later any learning has gone to the back of my mind. This class has at last been the breakthrough.
Jonathan starts from first principles, explaining what is happening and how use the tools. He then goes on to show you some practical applications. Spreading the lessons over several week you have the opportunity to gradually build up your understanding. For me the main benefit is that when something does not happen as I think it should, I can usually work out what it is wrong. I do this because I understand what is happening in Photoshop.
I am now very much enjoying using Photoshop and am getting some much improved results.
If you want to understand Photoshop this is a highly recommended class.
