The Art of Composition – February 2026

with Jonathan Vaines – 4th & 11th February, 3pm (uk) / 10am (est)

The Art of Composition

Composition – Understanding what elements make image successful and how to use them to add compositional value into your work.

Composition can be considered a dark art. Images with little or no compositional value often do not have the ability to hold the viewers’ attention.

Working with known techniques and with compositional guidelines will give images the hidden power of attraction. Composition runs far deeper than a leading line or a rule of third.

Careful positioning, balance of image and working with light I just a few of the techniques you can adopt to give your work a professional look.

This online class is limited to 30 students to allow plenty of time for questions and personal help from Jonathan
