The Pastel Effect class will give you the knowledge to produce images with a soft and ethereal look.

This 1 hour & 45 min online class is designed for photographers that want to make soft arty images.

We will cover:

Which images work with the pastel look – gain an understanding into reading the histogram at the time of exposure
Understanding how to simplify the composition – tricks to remove unwanted elements which can distract in simple images
How to balance the light by working with a threshold layer and the control of levels adjustments
Pastel your colours by controlling colour channels and lifting luminosity using blend modes

What you will learn

At the end of this online class, you will have…

An understanding of how to capture images that will pastel.
The ways to clean an image to remove any unwanted elements and to balance contrast.
Shift light within the image to produce an even distribution of luminosity to enable the pastel look.
How to give images colour washes to blend sections of the image together
How to enhance detail in your subject

Meet the Instructor – Jonathan Vaines

We are delighted to welcome Jonathan Vaines to the Photoclub247 team as our resident Photoshop & Printing expert.

He is an internationally recognised photographic judge and teacher, known for his innovative creative approach and post-processing expertise.

Jonathan regularly teaches Photoshop online, both in groups and one to one sessions. He is also an Educator for the Royal Photographic Society and runs processing workshops for them.

Based in Bedfordshire, UK, he empowers photographers around the world.

Jonathan shows from a straight shot how you can remove distracting objects, adding one texture and low opacity, you can turn, flip, distort, stretch to add depth.

You can ask questions during the lesson using the Zoom comments section. Or you can unmute your microphone and ask the question directly to the instructor. The instructor will give you guidance on this at the start of the live lesson.

If you have a question about the lesson when watching the recording, each class has its own dedicated “Secret Space” on the members portal, exclusive to attendees of the class. You can post your questions/comments in this space and get help from the instructor and other attendees.
